SkillForce is a national education charity, backed by HRH The Duke of Cambridge, helping young people to flourish in primary and secondary schools across the UK.
SkillForce Scotland are working with around half of the authorities in Scotland to help raise attainment and achievement. The support, programmes and awards we offer are very much tailored to reflect local needs but across the board we aim to re-engage children and young people through motivational mentoring and alternative education initiatives to improve behaviour, performance and attainment. We also promote personal development, employability and improved health and wellbeing.
We have aligned ourselves with key Scottish priorities such as the attainment challenge and developing the young workforce. Our support for young people was identified as best practice within Curriculum for Excellence Building the Curriculum 4: Skills for Learning, Skills for Life and Skills for Work.
We were also featured in ’10 things we do to make a difference’ the publication from the Pupil Inclusion Network Scotland which highlighted best practice from around Scotland. We are really proud to have features under number 7 – Build Skills and Confidence – which is great recognition of the work we do.
SkillForce offers a range of programmes that support Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence by helping learners develop the skills, capabilities and attributes necessary for them to become successful learners and confident individuals.
These customisable programmes complement the school’s existing curriculum and are designed to deliver specific outcomes agreed with the school. Our programmes embed the principles and guidelines specified in the Scottish Government’s ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’ initiative.
SkillForce uses recognised qualifications and awards as tools to deliver the agreed outcomes
This special combination benefits the student as well as supporting the school’s learning objectives.
