It is becoming increasingly accepted that enterprise and entrepreneurship education can help develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to thrive in our increasingly uncertain world.
Enterprise skills are key to all, not just those who at some point want to start a business. That is why accreditation like this enhances the parity of esteem for enterprise skills and gives them the rightful recognition they deserve. By giving educators the skills and the confidence they need and desire, the next generation of students from primary, secondary and tertiary education will be better prepared for future life and work
Challenges such as lack of time, rigid curriculum demands, insufficient professional training and inadequate contact with entrepreneurs beyond the school can become barriers to our young people's entitlement to experience the opportunities that enterprise education offers in abundance.
In an attempt to offset such challenges, YE Scotland and SES have developed a suite of resources in collaboration to enhance our organisational offerings.
Enterprise education engages learners and enables them to apply their knowledge, skills and attributes to solve real-life problems. Feedback from teachers has shown us that many feel their knowledge in this area is limited, despite a willingness to embed it in their daily learning and teaching. In an attempt to overcome this challenge, we are offering 'Can Plan Do', accredited at SCQF Level 9, which will give teachers confidence in this next step in their professional development.
