My Future in Our Hands is an example of project-based learning aimed at Second, Third and Fourth level. Working in small groups, learners will be challenged to set an ‘essential question’ in regard to a social/community/environmental issue.
They will lead their own learning including planning, time and resource management. The project is designed to be interdisciplinary and learners are to be encouraged to relate to and incorporate other subjects into their project.
Timings are designed to be flexible and, because of the project approach, may be suited to extra-curricular learning or based within Enterprise or Personal Social Development lessons.
Learners will create a presentation that outlines their methods of research, findings and possible answers to the ‘essential question’.
Using peer and self-assessment, learners will evaluate their experience and the skills developed during the course of the project.
