Daydream Believers is a free online resource for teachers to facilitate teaching of creative thinking, problem solving and innovation, (Meta Skills) in secondary schools across a range of disciplines. It is designed to initiate a continuing process that is then developed into Further and Higher Education and finally into the work environment.
After successful pilots in Balerno, Tynecastle, Ross High, Royal High., Liberton and Drummond Community High Schools the resource is now available free online, bringing this new approach to learning into classrooms everywhere.
These free online materials provide teachers with all the resources to teach lessons, usually lasting 50-minutes, which vary from stand-alone activities to multi-lesson units. The focus is on building a creative skillset. Teachers can select the lessons they want to use, building a unique resource which both compliments and supports their teaching and learning.
Our aim is to put context to these essential skills by bringing the 'real world' into our classrooms.
It's an incredible experience not just for the students but for myself. It's been amazing watching their confidence grow over the weeks, seeing skills such as cooperative working, problem solving and critical thinking being developed and used to produce really creative solutions to briefs.
It has also impacted on my teaching and learning content and how I will deliver the design element of our BGE course.
