Anna Devitt founded DirectDevitt Comedy & Management Productions (CIC) using her own personal experience and research to create a learning environment where all can achieve.
DirectDevitt offers training courses in Creative Areas – Comedy & Confidence throughout the UK. Through these workshops students can achieve a a qualification (SCQF levels 3,4,5 & 6).
The Comedy & Confidence Award is designed to instil confidence in participants while using comedy as a creative tool. This Award also covers employability skills, self-development, mental health understanding and entrepreneurial skills. The target audience is young people aged 14+ outwith mainstream education who are more practical learners seeking to improve confidence through creativity. The programme was credit rated by SQA at SCQF Level 6 with 9 SCQF credit points.
To date, DirectDevittCIC has delivered the Course to over 2000 young people. Establishments include The Prince's Trust, Youth Scotland, Yes Enterprise, HMYOI Polmont, Bute Youth, Glasgow City College, Jobs & Business Glasgow and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
COMEDY & CONFIDENCE: THE DIRECTDEVITT COMEDY AWARD (SCFQ LEVELS 3, 4, 5 & 6)
The DirectDevitt Comedy Award offers the opportunity to learn about Comedy and deliver chosen styles throughout the course. This course offers hands-on experience of performing comedy and learning transferable skills within communication and confidence techniques. A Comedy Tutor will lead a series of tutor-led and candidate centred activities to build on prior knowledge and skills development.
This course is highly practical and each candidate will build a portfolio of comedy writing which can be submitted through audio, visual and written materials. Candidates will fulfil the roles of writer & performer. As well as experiencing the thrill of live performances and being an active audience member through self and peer evaluation activities throughout the duration of the programme.
